The Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) is a premier global event for sharing and co-creating innovative solutions in water, coastal, and flood management to address urban water and climate challenges. Organised by the Public Utilities Board (PUB), Singapore's National Water Agency and Coastal Protection Agency, SIWW serves as a key platform to accelerate climate action, making a substantial impact on water conservation, environmental, and sustainability issues.
The last edition of SIWW took place from 17 to 21 April 2022 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre. Together with the co-located CleanEnviro Summit Singapore (CESG) organised by Singapore’s National Environment Agency, SIWW attracted over 11,000 trade visitors from 65 countries and regions.
The event featured a robust programme of 86 sessions across five action-packed days, with discussions to spur innovation and share sustainable solutions and best practices for the entire urban water cycle. SIWW is testament to Singapore’s status as a global innovation and technology hub, and a launchpad for cutting-edge water solutions. This is exemplified by the Water Expo, the pre-eminent marketplace for the international urban water, flood management and coastal protection community to convene and explore business opportunities. Together with the Environment Expo, the 2022 version featured over 300 local and international exhibitors, including 13 country and thematic pavilions. Trade visitors had the opportunity to discover the latest state-of-the-art solutions, technologies, products and services for cities, utilities and industry in Asia.
Beyond enabling discourse and showcasing innovations, SIWW also catalyses significant initiatives and public-private partnerships. These collaborations go a long way in driving climate resilience, advancing sustainability, and creating potential environmental business opportunities in Singapore and beyond.
SIWW's impact continued with SIWW Spotlight, a by-invitation summit held from 4 to 6 June 2023. Themed "Urgent Climate Action for a Sustainable Water Future," SIWW Spotlight 2023 featured a closed-door roundtable for utility CEOs, industry plenaries, workshops, and networking events. It brought together 340 leaders from utilities, cities, and the water industry to drive impactful exchanges and forge partnerships for collective action.
At the event, Ms Fu announced enhancements to Singapore’s Water Efficiency Fund, whereby PUB will raise its funding for water recycling projects to a maximum of $5 million from July 1, up from $1 million. This increased funding will enable businesses to undertake bigger and more ambitious water conservation projects, driving positive long-term impact towards achieving Singapore’s sustainability goals.
